Mitä sinä voit tehdä?

  • Älä tule kurssille, mikäli sinulla on flunssan oireita tai epäilet itselläsi koronavirustartuntaa.
  • Pese kädet tai käytä käsidesiä sekä tullessasi että lähtiessäsi.
  • Aivasta tai yski kertakäyttönenäliinaan ja heitä nenäliina heti roskikseen. Jos nenäliinaa ei ole saatavilla, suojaa suu kyynärtaipeella. Pese lopuksi kädet.
  • Huolehdi 1-2 metrin turvavälistä muihin opiskelijoihin kurssin aikana sekä opetustiloihin tultaessa ja niistä poistuttaessa.
  • Suosi omia harrastusvälineitä yhteiskäytössä olevien sijaan.
  • Noudata kulloinkin voimassa olevia viranomaisohjeita ja -suosituksia.

Autumn term 2020

We organize Finnish courses from beginner’s level A1 to level C1, in four locations as well as online. Our Finnish courses are open to everyone, but students need to register for most of the courses. We do not provide language testing, but certificates of attendance are provided on request. If you need a certificate after the course, please contact our office: toimisto (at) ahjola.fi.

Registration

Note! The 4 courses for immigrant women held in Naistari are an exception, there is no advance registration for them.

How to register?

• online registration (in Finnish) starts on July 1st, 2020.
• registration by phone at 044 553 8444 between 10 am and 3 pm, on 1-2 July and on weekdays from August 3, 2020

If you register by phone, be prepared to give us your email address, to which we will send confirmation of your registration and the payment details for paying your course fee. 

Note that your registration is binding; if you know you can’t attend the course, please cancel your registration at least 8 days before the course begins (free of charge). For cancellations 1-7 days before the beginning of the course we charge a handling fee (15 €). Under exceptional circumstances (e.g. gathering restrictions imposed by the Government) students can cancel their course registration free of charge before the course begins. After the course has started, the whole course fee is charged. If you register for a two-term course (autumn and spring), your registration is automatically for both terms. The first payment you are asked to make upon registration is for the autumn term. You will get a payment link for the spring term by email in the beginning of December. However, if you do not wish to continue your participation in the spring, you can cancel your registration for the spring term by November 30.

Finnish for beginners intensively in August (level 0-A1.2) 1201002

Finnish for beginners intensively in December (level 0-A1.2) 1201003

An intensive Finnish course for beginners. We study Finnish for four study hours on 14 evenings, taking a break during the holiday season. Coursebook: Suomen mestari 1, the 2020 edition, ch. 1-5. English can be used alongside Finnish when necessary as a language of instruction. After this course you can continue in the Finnish continuation course in January. The course dates are: December 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 21, and January 4, 5, 7 and 8.

ONLINE COURSES

Finnish for beginners online (level 0-A1.2) 1201044

The course is for beginners. The focus is on words and phrases needed in everyday live as well as basic grammar. You will get weekly material that you can study when it suits you best. The online material comprises videos, audios and exercises to train listening comprehension, writing skills and speech. You will get online support and answers to your questions throughout the course. The languages of instruction are Finnish and English. To participate you need a computer / mobile device, a microphone and speakers. A camera is useful but not necessary. You also need the coursebook Suomen mestari 1 (the 2020 edition), of which chapters 1-5 will be covered. The learning platform is Peda.net. The teacher will contact you by email prior to the beginning of the course and give instructions about the platform. No instruction during October 12-18.

Let’s speak Finnish online! (level A2)   1201046 NOTE: IN AUGUST

This course suits you if you have studied Finnish for a couple of years, manage in everyday situations and want to practise speaking. The course is held completely online, using Peda.net and Zoom conference application as learning platforms. We will meet in Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5 pm (mostly 90 minute sessions) and talk and do spoken activities. In Peda.net we will do review exercises and discuss in writing in chat. The course requires about 6 hours of study time in a week, partly independently in Peda.net. The teacher will contact the participants by email prior to the beginning of the course. The language of instruction is Finnish, English may be used when needed alongside Finnish.

Elementary Finnish online (level A1)   1201050

The course is for students who have studied some Finnish for beginners, e.g. Suomen mestari 1, and want to review and further practise the basics of elementary Finnish. We work on vocabulary, grammar, listening and simple writing. The course suits you if you want to work independently in your own time. Most of the coursework is done independently following the course instructions. There will also be a weekly assignment on which you get feedback from the teacher. The languages of instruction are English and Finnish. To participate you need a computer with an internet connection and basic computer skills. The course is held completely online; the learning platform used is Peda.net. The teacher will contact the participants by email prior to the beginning of the course.

Finnish online 1 (level A2-B1)   1201055

The course is designed for students whose language level is at least A2: you have studied Finnish for at least two years and can communicate in Finnish in everyday situations and understand basic texts in Finnish. We focus on writing as well as understanding written and spoken Finnish. The course platform is Peda.net. Part of the course exercises are done independently in Peda.net; once a week you will get feedback from the teacher after handing in a weekly assignment. The course is held completely online, and you can study at the times that suit you best. The language of tuition is Finnish, but English may be used if necessary for understanding. The teacher will contact you by email before the course starts.

This course is for students whose language proficiency level in Finnish is B2.2/C1. We focus on vocabulary nuances that suit different language situations, learn less common grammar structures and look at different text types and how they may influence the reader. The course is held completely online. You will get a weekly learning plan from the teacher, including various exercises and one assignment on which you will get feedback from the teacher. To participate you need a computer with an internet connection. The teacher will send you an email prior to the beginning of the course with further instructions. Note! The course is similar to the one held during spring term 2020.

The course is meant for immigrant girls and women who can speak Finnish and manage in everyday spoken situations or e.g. in vocational training but find writing very hard. We practise skills you need when writing answers to school test and for written schoolwork, or writing e-mails. We also practise skills needed in the written sections of the YKI language test.  The course material is provided by the teacher. No class on October 12. Registration at Naistari during the first lesson, no advance registration. Note! Childcare is not provided on this evening course.

Leipominen ja kokkaus
Leipokaa yhdessä jotain makeaa tai suolaista esim. pikkuleipiä, pullaa, pannukakkua tai sämpylöitä. Reseptejä löytyy netistä. Laittakaa yhdessä perheenä ruokaa. Lapset voivat osallistua salaatin valmistukseen tai tehdä vaikka helppoja jälkiruokia, kuten hedelmäsalaattia tai marjarahkaa.

Tehkää eväät ja menkää ulos eväsretkelle

Taikataikinasta muovailua
Taikataikina eli suolataikina on helppotekoinen muovailumassa lapselle. Taikina syntyy nopeasti kotoa löytyvistä ruoka-aineista. Tarvitset vain jauhoja, suolaa, vettä ja öljyä. Koska taikina on tehty ruoka-aineista, ei ole vaarallista, vaikka taikinaa joutuisi lapsen suuhun. Taikataikinaa voi käyttää muovailuvahan tavoin ja siitä on helppo tehdä esimerkiksi eläimiä tai jalan- ja kädenjälkitauluja tai vaikkapa pääsiäiskoristeita.

Tarvitset:
· 3 dl jauhoja
· 1,5 dl suolaa
· 1,5 dl vettä
· 1 rkl ruokaöljyä

Tee näin:
· Sekoita suola vehnäjauhoihin. Lisää kylmä vesi pienissä erissä joukkoon. Lisää öljy. Vaivaa taikinaa noin 5 minuuttia, kunnes siitä tulee kiinteä massa. Jos taikina on tahmeaa, lisää hieman jauhoja. Jos taikina murenee liian helposti, voit lisätä hieman vettä. Anna mielellään seistä ainakin tunti ennen leipomista.
· Aloita muovailu. Muovailun apuvälineenä voi käyttää esimerkiksi piparkakkumuotteja, veitsiä ja haarukoita. Voit hieroa hieman öljyä käsiin, jotta taikinan muovailu sujuu paremmin.
· Nosta valmiit työt leivinpaperilla vuoratulle uunipellille, jotta ne on helppo sujauttaa uuniin. Koristeet kuivuvat myös huoneenlämmössä, mutta huomattavasti hitaammin kuin uunissa.
· Säädä uuni 125 asteeseen ja kuivata koristeita noin tunnin verran. Isot työt saattavat vaatia kuivuakseen pidemmän ajan. Koristeet voi voidella kananmunalla ennen paistamista.
· Anna uunista tulleiden koristeiden jäähtyä, minkä jälkeen voit aloittaa niiden maalaamisen ja koristelun. Maaleiksi sopivat esimerkiksi vesivärit ja akryylivärit.
· Jos taikinaa jää yli, sitä voi säilyttää jääkaapissa noin viikon ajan.
